Here is how the Rattlers have fared on July 23...since 2000:
The Rattlers lost 4-1 at Michigan. The Rattlers had three hits. The only run scored on a Ryan Christianson homer. Rattler records after this game: 18-12 second half, 56-42 overall.
The Rattler game at Michigan was rained out. This game -- the final game of the series scheduled for 7:00pm -- got called around 11am. When the bus left the hotel to pick up the equipment, the rain let up. When we stopped for lunch down the road in Kalamazoo, the sun was out. We doubted there was going to be a big crowd that night. Rattler records on this date: 18-12, 60-39
The Rattlers lost 6-4 at Burlington. The Rattlers scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning after being down 5-0. Eddie Menchaca drove in two runs in the frame. Rattler records after this game: 8-22, 38-61
The Rattlers lost 4-3 at Peoria. Travis Hanson broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single in the top of the ninth. Rattler records after this game: 12-20, 50-48
The Rattlers won 11-9 at home. Adam Jones was 4-for-5 with three runs and Bryan LaHair homered for the Rattlers. Rattler records after this game: 12-16, 43-54
The Rattlers lost 8-6 to Clinton at home in 11 innings. Clinton scored three runs off Cibney Bello in the top of the ninth to tie the game. The L-Kings scored two in the top of the eleventh. Rattler records after this game: 14-15, 53-46
The Rattlers lost 2-1 at Burlington in 10 innings. A throwing error on a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the tenth allowed the winning run to score for the Bees. Rattler records after this game: 10-20, 37-63
The Rattlers won 7-4 over South Bend at home. This win ended Wisconsin's 14-game losing streak. It wasn't easy. South Bend led 2-0 after one inning. Carlos Peguero hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and put the Rattlers up 4-2. Wisconsin added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Hawks scored all four of their runs on solo homers. Rattler records after this game: 9-20, 31-66
A 2-5 record with some close, tough losses and that weird rainout in 2001. But, last year's win makes it an okay day in Rattler history...since 2000.
