Mariner System Report (Games of 7/22)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 38-62 4th American League West): The Mariners lost 4-2 to Boston at home. Bryan LaHair (’04) got his first major league hit and scored one of Seattle’s two runs in the eighth inning. But, it wasn’t enough to dig out of a 4-0 hole and the main thesis of the story is....attendance.

TACOMA (AAA: 51-52, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers won 5-2 at Nashville. Luis Valbuena (’06), Matt Tuiasosopo (’05), and Wladimir Balentien (’04) each drove in a run in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie, with a little help.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 52-48, 11-19 5th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx game at Chattanooga was rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 45-57, 13-19 second half 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Inland Empire 10-9. Kuo Hui Lo (’07) tied the game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh. Jose Yepez drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth. Steve Richard (’07) got the win in relief.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 15-20, 2nd Northwest League Western Division): The AquaSox lost 5-4 at Boise. Luis Nunez (’07) had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Sox. But, Boise scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 4-2 Everett lead.

PULASKI (Rookie: 22-11, 1st Appalachian League East Division): The M’s lost 1-0 and were no-hit by Danville in a rain-shortened game. Ross Francis struck out 16 and walked two over six innings. The game was stopped by rain after the first out of the top of the seventh.

PEORIA (Rookie: 9-15 T-7th Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 7-0 to the AZL Cubs.
