Norfolk’s Bobby Livingston, a southpaw who relies on guile, threw seven innings, allowed six hits and didn’t walk a batter.

“I just get the ball and pound the strike zone,” said Livingston, who hasn’t yielded an earned run in 14 innings. “Where I get hurt is when I try to pick around the zone.”

Livingston didn’t, and he made quick work of the Mud Hens.

“He mixes it up and keeps you off stride,” Tides manager Gary Allenson said. “He makes it look easy.”
