ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Burlington beat the Timber Rattlers 8-6. The Bees scored five times in the first inning and added two more in the second to grab a 7-2 lead. The Rattlers rallied to within 7-6, but the Bees scored a run in the bottom of the eighth and Mike Lehmann pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. The Rattlers have lost six straight games at Community Field.
BLAST OFF: Chris Dennis hit a two run homer in the first inning to give the Timber Rattlers a 2-0 lead. Dennis has two homers this season.
AFTER TWO: Burlington scored all five of their runs in the first inning after there were two outs. Gerard Hall doubled with the bases loaded to drive in three runs and give the Bees a 3-2 lead.
THREE IN A ROW: The Timber Rattlers have lost three straight games. They have also homered in each of the last three games.
FOUR BY FOUR: Kris Davis singled three times and doubled once to become the first Rattlers player to collect four hits in a game this season. Dennis also added a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to give him four RBI in the game.
DEFICIT SPENDING: In three of the four Wisconsin losses this season they have fallen behind by a lot and fought back to within striking distance. On April 10, Wisconsin was down 7-0, rallied to within 7-5, but lost 10-5. On April 12, they were down 5-0, got to within 5-3, but lost 7-4. Last night, the Rattlers were down 7-2 and cut the lead to 7-6.
YOUR FACT OF THE DAY: Jerry Nyman is the pitching coach of the Burlington Bees. He pitched in Appleton for the Fox Cities Foxes in 1966 when the Foxes were affiliated with the Chicago White Sox. Nyman was 2-3 with a 1.97ERA in five starts for the Foxes.

BURLINGTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Matt Mitchell was the 14th round pick of the Royals in the 2007 draft out of Barstow (CA) High School. He missed all of the 2009 season with Tommy John surgery. In 2008, Mitchell went 8-8 with a 3.47ERA in 25 games (21 starts) for the Bees. In his last start, Mitchell took the loss at Kane County on April 11. The Cougars got to him for two runs on five hits over 4-2/3 innings. Mitchell made three starts against the Timber Rattlers in 2008 and was 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA. Mitchell has not faced a Milwaukee minor league affiliate since 2007. As a member of the Arizona League Royals, Mitchell went 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA in three games (two starts) against the AZ Brewers in 2007. Mitchell entered the 2010 season as the #28 prospect in the Kansas City system as rated by Baseball America.
