Mariner System Report (Games of 5/26)

Seattle (MAJ: 22-28; 3rd AL West): The Mariners lost 3-1 at Minnesota. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) gave up three runs on five hits over seven innings and struck out eight, but got the loss. The offense scored one run in the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough.

Tacoma (AAA – 23-23; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Colorado Springs 5-2. Cesar Jimenez (WI ’03) got his first win in Triple-A by going six innings and allowing two runs. Adam Jones (WI ’04) had a bases loaded triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Rainiers in front to stay. Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) pitched the final three innings without allowing a run for the save.

San Antonio (AA – 18-27; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost to Wichita 7-6. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) went 4-for-5 with two RBI for the Missions. The Wranglers scored five times in the sixth inning to go in front 6-2.

Inland Empire (High-A – 29-19; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat up High Desert 20-7. Mike Wilson, Omar Falcon, Marshall Hubbard, and Josh Womack all homered for the 66ers. Hubbard (WI ’05) was 5-for-6 with five RBI; Wilson (WI ’06) was 4-for-6 with three RBI and four runs scored. Jon Lockwood (WI ’05) got the win in relief by pitching 3-1/3 innings of scoreless ball. The 66ers won their seventh straight game by breaking a 7-7 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth and never looking back.
