Seattle (MAJ: 22-29; 3rd AL West): The Mariners lost 9-5 at Minnesota. Seattle scored four times in the top of the second inning for a 4-1 lead. But Jamie Moyer gave up eight runs on eleven hits over six innings for a loss. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez homered and knocked in three runs for the Mariners. The Twins turned a triple play in the eighth inning to stop a Mariner rally cold.
Tacoma (AAA – 24-23; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Colorado Springs 10-6. Shin-soo Choo (WI ’02) went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Todd Sears had a pair of hits and three RBI. Cha Seung Baek (WI ’00) gave up five runs over 5-2/3 innings, but got the win. Renee Cortez (WI ’03) pitched the final 1-2/3 innings for his second save.
San Antonio (AA – 18-28; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions lost 5-3 to Wichita. The score was tied 3-3, but the Wranglers scored a run in the eight and a run in the ninth for the win. Sebastien Boucher (WI ’05) and Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) each had a hit and scored a run for the Missions.
Inland Empire (High-A – 30-19; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat High Desert 6-4 for their eighth straight win. Brian Schweiger (WI ’06) homered and drove in four runs for the 66ers. Mumba Rivera (WI ’05) pitched four scoreless innings in relief for his fourth win of the season. Mark Lowe (WI ’05) got the save by pitching the final two innings.
