Doubleheader sound like fun?

Minor League doubleheaders are two seven inning games. That's the plan at least.
The long-term effects of Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Peoria Chiefs at the hands of the Kane County Cougars will be played out over the coming days and weeks.

It was just two games out of a 140-game schedule, but it also was 24 innings of baseball, including a 17-inning, 6-4 loss in Game 2.

Peoria ran out of pitchers.
Infielder Jonathan Mota took the loss after pitching the 17th. He was Peoria's first non-pitcher to get a decision since Mike McCoy lost to Fort Wayne in a 17-inning game in June 2004.
Why did they run out?

With starter Ryan Acosta still on a strict pitch count, the Chiefs were forced to the bullpen early, with 2 outs in the fourth inning of the second game.

"If (a long game) happens anytime in the year it's taxing on the bullpen but especially in April," Peoria pitching coach Rich Bombard said. "The starters aren't stretched out and it's cold weather. It has happened before and it will happen again."

Four relievers threw three innings each in Game 2, the maximum set by the parent Chicago Cubs.

Maybe if someone would update his blog, we could get a broadcaster look at the marathon.

I shouldn't kid Nathan. Because...well, he has a life. I don't.
