Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Rattlers have fared on May 18…since 2000

2000: The Rattlers lost 4-0 to West Michigan at home. Andy Van Hekken tossed eight shutout innings and struck out ten. Maxim St. Pierre homered off Craig Anderson. The Rattler starter also struck out ten in his start, but took the loss. This game was notable because it was the start of the Whitecaps second series in Wisconsin during the first half. That never happens anymore. Rattler record after this game: 19-18.

2001: The Rattlers beat Fort Wayne 7-3 in Grand Chute. Jared Hoerman outpitched Justin Germano. The Rattlers got to Germano for five runs on seven hits and four walks. Jamal Strong scored three runs and Roy Wells struck out seven over four scoreless innings of relief for the save. Rattler record after this game: 25-16

2002: Cedar Rapids beat the Rattlers 4-2 at the New Vet. Wisconsin scored two first inning runs, but Renee Cortez allowed four runs in the third inning and that was that with that. Rattler record after this game: 19-22.

2003: The Rattlers beat the Chiefs 5-1 in Peoria. Juan Sandoval pitched seven shutout innings, Corey Harrington homered, and Gary Harris drove in two for the Rattlers. Rattler record after this game: 23-18

2004: The Rattlers beat Cedar Rapids 3-2 in Grand Chute. Cedar Rapids tied the game when two runs scored on a two-out error by shortstop Adam Jones in the seventh. The winning run scored in the bottom of the ninth. Eric Blakley doubled to start the inning. Michael Cox dropped a sac bunt and third baseman Matt Brown threw the ball away allowing Blakley to score. Rattler record after this game: 17-22.

2005: The Rattlers were off. Rattler record on this date: 21-18

2006: The Rattlers lost 8-7 at Kane County. Wisconsin couldn’t hold a 4-0 lead as the Cougars bashed three homers. The final homer, a solo shot by Anthony Recker in the seventh broke a 7-7 tie. Rattler record after this game: 17-23

2007: Lansing beat the Rattlers 11-0 in Grand Chute. Anthony Varvaro allowed eight runs in 4-1/3 innings. The only hit the Rattlers had in the game was a lead off single by Kuo Hui Lo in the top of the sixth inning off reliever Edward Rodriguez. Lansing used four pitchers – Nate Starner got the win with five hitless innings – for the one-hitter. Rattler record after this game: 11-27

A 3-4 record is kinda eh, and some of the losses were pretty bad, like last year. So, overall a crummy day in Rattler history...since 2000.
