Mariner System Report (Games of 5/1)

Seattle (MAJ: 12-15; 4th AL West): The Mariners won their third straight game with an 8-2 pasting of the Twins in Minnesota. Joel Pineiro (WI ’98) tossed a complete game and scattered nine hits for his third win of the season. Kenji Johjima homered, had three hits, and drove in three runs. Richie Sexson knocked his third homer of the year out of the park as well.

Tacoma (AAA – 14-9; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Clint Nageotte (WI ’01) pitched five innings for the win and got home runs from Greg Dobbs (WI ’02) and Hunter Brown (WI ’02). Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) pitched the final three innings and picked up the save for the Rainiers in a 5-4 win at Colorado Springs.

San Antonio (AA – 9-15; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 4-2 to Springfield. Ryan Feierabend (WI ’04) gave up one run on three hits in six innings, but got a no decision as the bullpen gave up a 2-1 lead. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) hit a solo homer to account for one of the Mission runs. In other Mission news, Chad Fillinger (WI '05) was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week.

Inland Empire (High-A – 13-11; T-2nd California League South Division): Inland Empire lost 7-4 at Lake Elsinore. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) went 4-for-4 with three RBI, but it wasn’t enough. Former Timber Rattler Matt Hagen (WI ’03) hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Storm.
