Mariner System Report (Games of 5/6)

Seattle (MAJ: 12-19; 4th AL West): The Mariners lost 9-4 to Cleveland in Seattle. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had three hits and scored a run for the M’s. Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) gave up a pair of runs in one inning of work and got the loss.

Tacoma (AAA – 15-11; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 17-7 at Salt Lake. Cesar Jimenez (WI ’03) gave up seven runs in four innings and took the loss. Hunter Brown (WI ’02), Adam Jones (WI ’04), and Rob Johnson (WI ’05) all homered for the Rainiers. Jones drove in three runs.

San Antonio (AA – 11-16; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions lost 7-6 at Arkansas. San Antonio trailed 6-1 heading into the top of the seventh and scored five runs to tie the game. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) homered. Bryan LaHair (WI ’04) had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Craig James (WI ’05) gave up a two-out homer to Aaron Peel in the bottom of the eighth to get the loss.

Inland Empire (High-A – 16-12; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat the San Jose Giants 6-5 in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) and Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) each had three hits. Chen drove in two runs and scored the winning run on a squeeze bunt by Ron Prettyman in the bottom of the eleventh.
