Mariner System Report (Games of 5/9)

Seattle (MAJ: 15-20; 3rd AL West): Seattle beat the Devil Rays 8-1. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) struck out eight and gave up one run on five hits over 7-2/3 innings for his second win of the season. Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) pitched the final 1-1/3 innings without allowing a run for a save. Ichiro was 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Mariners. The win got the Mariners out of the AL West cellar.

Tacoma (AAA – 16-14; 3rd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Round Rock won their eleventh game in a row by beating the Rainiers 11-3. Adam Jones (WI ’04) and Shin-soo Choo (WI ’02) each had two hits for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 11-19; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions lost 2-1 in ten innings at Springfield. Michael Garciaparra (WI ’03), Gary Harris (WI ’03), and Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) each had two hits for San Antonio. Travis Blackley took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but gave up one run on two hits in his final inning of work a no decision.

Inland Empire (High-A – 18-13; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire won 2-0 at Modesto. Ivan Blanco (WI ’05), Mumba Rivera (WI ’05), and Stephen Kahn (WI ’05) combined on a three-hit shutout of the Nuts.
