In a move that foreshadows Bill Veeck's use of Eddie Gaedel‚ the Indians try and use a midget at third base. With Ted Williams about to step in the batters box at Fenway‚ the Indians move into the Williams shift. Three-foot tall Marco Songini runs onto the field and takes over the empty third base spot. The umps then wave him off. The Red Sox win‚ 5-1.
Never heard about this one before.
