Mariner System Report (Games of 7/17)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 52-39; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 8-3 to Baltimore. Felix Hernandez (’03) took the loss as he allowed three runs in six innings. Eric O’Flaherty (’05) gave up five runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning. Ryan Rowland-Smith (’03) pitched 1-2/3 shutout innings in relief of O’Flaherty.

TACOMA (AAA: 43-54; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Salt Lake 12-6. Adam Jones (’04) went 5-for-5 with five RBI to lead the 19 hit attack of Tacoma.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 40-56 overall; 9-17 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Mobile 10-6. Mike Wilson (’05) hit a three-run homer in a seven run seventh inning for West Tennessee. Wilson had three hits and drove in four runs in the game, the first win of the season at Mobile for the Jaxx.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 39-57 overall; 8-18 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat Modesto 8-7. Michael Saunders (’06) hit a grand slam in the seventh inning for the Mavs. Saunders also scored the winning run on a single by Jeff Frazier. Chris Tillman ('07) struck out nine over four innings for a no decision.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 12-16; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox lost 8-1 to Boise. Rob Harmon (’07) gave up five runs on eight hits, including three home runs, to take the loss.

AZL Mariners (Rookie: 15-6; 1st Arizona League): The AZL M’s beat the Royals 7-1. Luis Nunez (’07) had an RBI for the M’s.
