Washington's Walter Johnson notches his 3‚000th strikeout on the way to 3‚508. He fans 5 in beating Cleveland 3-1. The Tribe has to pack‚ ending their extended 31 game home stand which began on June 23. Their record for the stay was 16-15.

Without checking, I think the next pitcher to 3,000 K's was Bob Gibson in 1971? Also, 31 home games in a row? That is a long home stand.
