SEATTLE (MAJ: 54-45; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 7-6 at Texas. Ramon Vazquez (’97) hit a two-run homer for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth inning off JJ Putz (’00) to put the Rangers in front.
TACOMA (AAA: 46-59; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 4-2 at New Orleans. Juan Doñe (’02) and Jason Mackintosh (’04) combined for three innings of scoreless relief, but the Zephyrs scored four runs in the fifth inning off Jorge Campillo for the win.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 45-58 overall; 14-19 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 13-8 to Birmingham. The Diamond Jaxx trailed 13-1 before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the ninth. Birmingham scored six runs in the first inning off Justin Thomas (’06).
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 39-64 overall; 8-25 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 16-7 to Lancaster. Adam Moore (’06) went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI for High Desert. Marwin Vega (’06) allowed eight runs on ten hits over six innings for the loss.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 14-22; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox lost 4-1 at Spokane. Everett avoided the shutout with an unearned run in the top of the ninth.
AZL Mariners (Rookie: 20-8; 1st Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 7-3 to the Padres.
