SEATTLE (MAJ: 51-37; 2nd AL West): The Mariners beat Detroit 6-4. Kenji Johjima hit a grand slam to lead the Seattle offense. JJ Putz (’00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his 26th save of the season.
TACOMA (AAA: 41-53; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 5-4 to Fresno. Jeff Clement (’05) homered and drove in a pair of runs for Tacoma. Ryan Feierabend (’04) pitched eight innings and allowed three runs, but got a no decision. The Grizzlies scored twice in the top of the ninth for the win. Justin Leone (’00) hit a home run and Scott Atchison (’99) got the win for Fresno.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 39-55 overall; 8-16 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 12-4 to Carolina. The Mudcats scored nine runs in the top of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 38-55 overall; 7-16 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 14-3 to Lake Elsinore. The Storm scored five runs in the top of the first inning and kept on going.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 11-14; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox beat Salem-Keizer 2-0. Nolan Gallagher allowed four hits with four strikeouts over seven innings for the win.
AZL Mariners (Rookie: 13-6; 2nd Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 4-1 to the Rangers.
