Rattlers' Williams happy to return from hiatus
It's an article that deserves to be read all the way through, so no excerpting here. Just the first two paragraphs
The one scoreless inning Harold Williams pitched on Saturday in his return to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers may seem insignificant.
But consider what the 22-year-old left-hander has gone through in the past year.
Now go read it all.
Also from RattlersReport.com there was this about the newest member of the Appleton Baseball Hall of Fame...
Cangelosi surprised, grateful to be inducted into Hall oF Fame
A strange message greeted John Cangelosi when he picked up the phone.
But the voice was familiar.
On the other end was former Appleton Baseball Club president Milt Drier, who before stating his identity told Cangelosi he had stolen 87 bases in 1983 as a member of the Appleton Foxes and he wanted those bases back.
Meanwhile, there are some stories about other Rattler alums out there that I found on the Tacoma Rainier website.
Oklahoman Brown finding success as Tacoma manager
Daren Brown didn't become the major league player his father and uncle were, but he might do something even more rare.
He might become only the fifth native Oklahoman to become a major league manager, following Bobby Cox, Alvin Dark, Les Moss and Roy Johnson. (Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire grew up in Okmulgee but was born in Germany).
Healthy Clement living up to his power pedigree
It's no surprise that Tacoma Rainiers catcher Jeff Clement is one of the team leaders in home runs with 16.
After all, Clement set the national high-school home-run record with 75 in Marshalltown, Iowa, then continued to show great power at USC and was taken with the No. 3 pick overall in the 2005 draft.
The surprise was that, until this season, Clement had just 12 homers in 1-½ pro seasons.
Last on this post...Look who was named Batter of the Week in the Northwest League:
