NEW LOW: Last night was Wisconsin’s seventh straight loss. That defeat knocked the Rattlers to a season low 29 games under .500. Wisconsin is now 30-59.

ROSTER MOVE: Rattler pitcher Tony Butler has been activated from the disabled list today. He is expected to come on in relief after starting pitcher Anthony Varvaro reaches his pitch limit. To make room for Butler pitcher Eddy Fernandez has been transferred to the Peoria Mariners of the Arizona League.

OPPOSING STARTER: Ray Gonzalez was the 19th round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2005 draft out of St. Petersburg (FL) Junior College. He pitched in 2005 and 2006 for Pulaski in the Appalachian League. Gonzalez went 5-5 in 20 games (19 starts) in those two seasons for Pulaski. Gonzalez had an ERA of 3.55 with 74 strikeouts in 89 innings over those two seasons in the Appalachian League. In his last start before today, the Fort Wayne Wizards beat Gonzalez on July 8. He allowed five runs on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts over five innings. Today is his first appearance against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and his first appearance against an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
