Midwest League Action (7/13)

July 13 scoreboard.

Fort Wayne 2, @Wisconsin 1: “We needed that, we needed a win. It was kind of a long day for me personally and a long day for all of us at the plate. It was nice we were able to rally.”

Kane County 10, @South Bend 4: "He went out there three times, that's all we wanted from him.'

Peoria 4, @West Michigan 3 (10 innings): West Michigan has lost four games in a row

@Lansing 5, Burlington 4: "I had a bad game (Saturday), and I just focused on getting better," he said. "The game is nine innings long. One inning isn't going to kill you."

@Clinton 8, Quad Cities 4: “They took it to us early. They roughed us up pretty good. After that first inning, I didn’t think we had a whole lot of energy.”

Bonus track:
The River Bandits’ bus pulled out of Modern Woodmen Park as scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, but it took nearly 31/2 hours for the team to complete its 45-mile commute to Clinton’s Alliant Energy Field.

Troubles began before the bus reached Locust Street in Davenport and after a short delay there, the bus and team were taken to a repair shop in north Davenport where the Quad-Cities’ ride was repaired.
Cedar Rapids 8, @Great Lakes 4: Robert Fish started and impressed for the Kernels.

@Dayton 8, Beloit 7 (suspended game from Saturday): "It was perfect placement," said Parker, not boasting, just stating the facts. "We've been playing well, and it all starts with our pitching staff, which has stepped up big."

@Dayton 4, Beloit 3 (F/9): "That's baseball," he said. "Braggie (hitting coach Darren Bragg) told me to just relax at the plate. And I knew the first pitch fastball was coming. I struck out in my last at-bat (against a lefty), and I didn't have a good swing on an inside fastball. Why wouldn't you throw that again?"
