August 15, 2009: Starting Pitcher

RHP JEFF SUPPAN was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as a free agent in December, 2006.

LAST SEASON: Suppan was 10-10 in 31 starts with a 4.96ERA for the Brewers in 2008. Suppan was Milwaukee’s nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award and the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award.

THIS SEASON: Suppan was 5-8 with a 5.27 ERA in 21 starts for the Brewers before going on the disabled list. He has walked 53 and struck out 60 in 114.1-/3 innings pitched

TONIGHT: Suppan is scheduled to toss three to four innings.

MINOR LEAGUE TIME: Suppan started out in the Boston Red Sox organization after being selected in the second round of the 1993 draft. He has pitched in the Gulf Coast League, the Florida State League, the Eastern League, the International League, and the Pacific Coast League. Tonight is his Midwest League debut.

LAST START: Suppan lost his fourth straight decision with a loss to the Washington Nationals at Miller Park on July 27. He allowed 10 runs on 10 hits over 5-1/3 innings with four walks and four strikeouts.

JULY: Suppan was 0-2 with a 6.59ERA in five starts in the month of July.

VS. BELOIT: Suppan has never faced the Beloit Snappers.

VS. MINNESOTA: Suppan pitched against the Minnesota Twins, the parent club of the Beloit Snappers, on June 23 at Miller Park. He gave up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts. In his major league career before 2009, Suppan had appeared in 19 games against the Twins and was 5-8 with a 4.98 ERA.
