August 2, 2009: Opposition Research

From the game notes of the Quad Cities River Bandits...

Power Surge: 1B Osvaldo Morales went two weeks without a homer before the River Bandits arrived in Wisconsin. The slugging Dominican has gone deep in each of the first two games of the series, though, raising his team-high power totals to 15 bombs with 73 RBI. Morales has 19 multi-RBI games this season—including nine games with three or more runs driven in—and is tied with Peoria’s
Rebel Ridling for second in the league, behind just Great Lakes’ Kyle Russell (75).

Getting Comfortable: The St. Louis Cardinals had high hopes for OF Kyle Conley when they drafted him in the seventh round out of the University of Washington this June. A long layoff led to a slow start for the 22-year-old, whose timing and comfort level have been visibly improving over the last few games. After starting his pro career just 6-for-38 (.158) with 14 strikeouts in 13 games, Conley picked up his first two extra-base hits and his first multi-hit game with a pair of doubles on Saturday.
