From the game notes of the Kane County Cougars

The Cougars start the final leg of their season-high 10-game road trip tonight as they take on the Timber Rattlers in the opener of a four-game series. The Cougars are 2-4 so far on their trip, as they lost two of three in Cedar Rapids and two of three in Lansing. Each time they have taken the opener of the set but dropped the next two, including yesterday in Lansing when they fell, 5-0, and managed only one hit. Jeremy Barfield hit a one-out single in the eighth to break up a no-hitter, but that was all the Cougars mustered. It was the second time since July 20 the Cougars had just one hit in a game and the eighth time in the 2nd half they were shut out. The Cougars wasted a quality start from Anvioris Ramirez, who gave up three runs in six innings in the loss, the Cougars’ 14th defeat in their last 19 contests. The Cougars now will play only Western Division foes for the remaining 34 games of the regular season.

NOTABLES: The Cougars have clubbed 68 homers as a team, and they are looking to surpass 100 homers in a season for only the 4th time in franchise history (119 in ’05, 110 in ’04 and 108 in ’01)…Matt Ray (left hand) has missed the last 35 games and is on the DL, Juan Nunez (right knee) has missed the last 27 games and is on the DL, Nino Leyja (left elbow) has missed 13 games and is on the DL, and Chad Lee (right shoulder) is on the DL…the Cougars had nine days with roster moves in the 1st half of the season and have had 10 days with moves in the 2nd half…the Cougars have dropped six consecutive series (at SB, at WM, vs. FW, vs. DAY, at CR, at LAN)…Justin Murray has nine saves, one shy of becoming the 23rd Cougar to reach 10-plus saves in a single season…Jeremy Barfield (6-for-18)…the quality start yesterday by Anvioris Ramirez was the first by a Cougar since July 23 against Fort Wayne when Ramirez posted his first one…the Cougars have been shut out 11 times this season, eight of which have happened on the road…the Cougars hit 57 homers in the first half and have hit just 11 in 26 games in the 2nd half.
