Midwest League Action: Games of August 13, 2009

Complete scoreboard

Wisconsin 6 @Cedar Rapids 5: How close were the Kernels to at least tying this one? With one out, Roberto Lopez worked a 3-0 count on Timber Rattlers reliever Nick Tyson, only to bang into a game-ending 4-6-3 double play a couple of pitches later. “Unbelievable,” said Kernels Manager Bill Mosiello. “We had the right guys up and a 3-0 count. What else could you ask for?”

@South Bend 5, Lansing 4 (10 innings): "We needed that one, bad," Haley said after his club battled back from a 4-1 deficit. "I was so proud of the guys. They were being aggressive. They were trying anything to get a run."

West Michigan 14 @Dayton 2: Today, Aug. 14, the Dragons will receive a new relief pitcher from Billings, Mont., but “that won’t be the last change,” said Cincinnati Reds Minor League Pitching Coordinator Mack Jenkins. “This is unacceptable two of the last three nights I’ve been here.”

@Great Lakes 6, Fort Wayne 4: Shortstop Dee Gordon appears to be back on track. After hitting .095 (4-for-42) in his last 10 games, Gordon was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and a run scored as the Great Lakes Loons captured a 6-4 Midwest League victory over Fort Wayne before 3,656 at Dow Diamond.

@Kane County 3, Quad Cities 2 (15 innings): In a 15-inning, 4-hour, 10-minute marathon Thursday night at Elfstrom Stadium, the Cougars beat the Quad Cities River Bandits, 3-2, in front of 7,184 fans. Dusty Napoleon singled home Petey Paramore in the bottom of the 15th to end the game.
