Midwest League Action: Games of August 14, 2009

Complete scoreboard

Wisconsin 13 @ Cedar Rapids 8: There’s a joke in here somewhere about the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Pat McGrath Chevyland Used Car Night Friday night at Memorial Stadium. Something to do with the word “clunker.”

@South Bend 7, Lansing 2: Given zero run support in his last two outings, Miley (5-8) benefited from a 15-hit attack, including three apiece from Reynaldo Navarro and Rossmel Perez, as the Hawks earned a split in the four-game series.

West Michigan 9 @Dayton 7: Hector Santana joined the Dragons as their newest relief pitcher Friday, Aug. 14, on a call-up from rookie Billings, Mont. The Dragons will need more than that.

@Great Lakes 6, Fort Wayne 5: In a game that featured five home runs Friday, it was Jerry Sands’s homer which was the biggest of them all. Sands homered in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Great Lakes Loons to a 6-5 victory over first-place Fort Wayne at Dow Diamond and give the Loons a split with the TinCaps in the four-game series.

@Peoria 10, Burlington 3: The Peoria Chiefs have been riding an offensive high tide. Like a wave washing on the beach, the production keeps rolling down the lineup.

Quad Cities 4 @Kane County 3: After a 4-3 loss Friday night against the Quad Cities River Bandits in front of 9,417 at Elfstrom Stadium, the Kane County Cougars wrapped up an eight-game homestand with a 3-5 mark.

@Beloit 2, Clinton 0: For the second night in a row, the Beloit Snappers’ bats were relatively quiet. But this time it didn’t matter.
