Kerry Wood to pitch in Peoria

Remember that Kerry Wood Countdown for the Chiefs just a few seconds ago?

Barring a medical set back, he will start at O'Brien Field against Lansing on May 7.

This isn't the first time Wood has pitched for the Chiefs:

Wood was placed on the disabled list March 28th with a right shoulder injury and has been making simulated and rehab starts at the Cubs Spring Training facility in Mesa, AZ since mid-March. Wood appeared in two games with the Chiefs last season including a full inning of work at O'Brien Field on August 2nd against the Kane County Cougars. In those two outings, Wood allowed just one base runner while striking out five in 2 1/3 innings of work. He then returned to the Cubs and pitched out of the bullpen before going on the 15-day disabled list on August 30th and eventually the 60-day DL on September 12th.

Maybe this will cool off the Lugnuts.
