Mariner System Report (Game of 5/8)

Seattle (MAJ: 14-20; 4th AL West): The Mariners rallied for a 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Seattle trailed 3-1 heading into the seventh inning, but scored three times in the seventh and twice in the eighth for the victory. Gil Meche (WI ’98) gave up three runs on six hits over seven innings for his second win. JJ Putz (WI ’00) struck out a pair in a scoreless ninth for his fourth save. Jose Lopez drove in three runs, including a two run double in the eighth, for the Mariners.

Tacoma (AAA – 16-13; T-2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 9-7 at Salt Lake. The Bees scored seven runs in the first and two more in the second and the Rainiers could not rebound. Shin-soo Choo (WI ’02) had three RBI for the Rainiers. Rich Dorman (WI ’03) pitched four innings of shutout relief to allow Tacoma to get back into the game.

San Antonio (AA – 11-18; 4th Texas League South Division): Springfield beat the Missions with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 4-2 win. San Antonio tied the game with a two-out, solo home run by Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) in the top of the seventh.

Inland Empire (High-A – 17-13; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire was off yesterday.
