Seattle (MAJ: 13-19; 4th AL West): Seattle beat Cleveland 4-1. Joel Pineiro (WI ’98) pitched eight innings allowing one run and striking out six without a walk. JJ Putz (WI ’00) worked a scoreless ninth for his third save. Adrian Beltre drove in two runs and former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez drove in another.
Tacoma (AAA – 16-11; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Asdrubal Cabrera (WI ’05) homered as part of a three run seventh inning to lead the Rainiers to a 5-4 win at Salt Lake. Cha Seung Baek (WI ’00) got the win and Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) gave up a run in the ninth, but picked up the save.
San Antonio (AA – 11-16; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio’s game in Arkansas was rained out. It will not be made up this season.
Inland Empire (High-A – 17-12; 1st California League South Division): The 66ers scored two runs in the sixth to tie and two runs in the seventh to beat the San Jose Giants 4-2. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to put Inland Empire ahead for good. Mumba Rivera (WI ’05) pitched 2-2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.
