July 14 scoreboard.
@Fort Wayne 9, Wisconsin 4: “That was fun. I threw strikes, the defense played awesome and we got a lot of hits. It was an all-around good team win.
Quad Cities 7, @Clinton 2: “We did the things we didn’t do (Sunday),’’ Dillard said. “We got the extra-base hits, and the timely hits. Baseball can be a strange game. You never know what you’re going to get from one day to the next.’’
@Dayton 5, Beloit 4: In one horrendous inning, Neftali Soto's fine evening almost went for naught for the Dragons. "It was crazy," Soto said. "We were fortunate," Dragons manager Donnie Scott said. "We were lucky to win."
Kane County 5, @South Bend 3: "We didn't have any speed on the bases, and he bunted on his own,'' said Haley. "He has enough power to get the hit and put himself on second base in that situation.''
@West Michigan 10, Peoria 2: Maybe it was Magglio Ordonez's long, shinny Hercules-like locks that were the good luck charm.
Burlington 4, @Lansing 2: The Lansing Lugnuts fell the Burlington Bees 4-2 Monday despite efforts by starting pitcher Trystan Magnuson who pitched five innings allowing two runs on five hits and struck out five.
@Great Lakes 2, Cedar Rapids 1 (10 innings): “It’s been two years since I bunted last in college,” Garabedian said. “I felt a little weird and was a little nervous. It is a lot harder than batting practice bunting. I should have got the bunt down, but at least I got the job done with the double.”
