July 28, 2009: Opposition Research

From the game Notes of the Fort Wayne TinCaps...

Jaff Decker is 2n in the MWL in OBP (.437) and 3rd in SLG % (.520)...Allan Dykstra is 1st in MiLB in walks (80)

Best in the Business: The TinCaps have the best record in all of full-season professional baseball (69-31; .690 winning percentage). They have a chance to become the first team to 70 wins. The next closes team is the Birmingham Barons (Double-A White Sox) at 67-33. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best in the major leagues at 62-37 (.626).

Record Pace: The TinCaps could go 11-29 the rest of the season and still set a franchise record for wins. The current record is 79, set in 1998 when the club was a Twins affiliate. If they go 19-21 the rest of the season, they would have the biggest one-year improvement in wins in franchise history (Editor's note: They were 71-69 last season).

No Dog Days: The TinCaps' 2.37ERA in July easily leads the Midwest League for the month. The next closest team ERA is West Michigan with a 3.30ERA.

Oh, and they play here now!
