From the game notes of the Quad Cities River Bandits...
Leading Off: SS Jose Garcia has found himself atop the batting order in seven straight games, and the 21-year-old Venezuelan has responded. Over those seven games, Garcia is hitting .321 (9-28) with seven runs scored, four stolen bases and four extra-base hits.
Teen Pop Sensation: The only teenager on the River Bandits roster is OF Frederick Parejo, a Venezuelan who did not turn 19 until July 5. Though he is hitting just .227 on the season, his average rises to .284 with runners on base and .288 with men in scoring position.
There’s a Hole in my Glove: The River Bandits are currently last in the 14-team Midwest League in fielding percentage (.963), tied for last in errors (143 with Clinton), and second to last in total double plays turned (76, ahead of Fort Wayne’s 65). Quad Cities’ 143 errors this season have led to 82 unearned runs and the River Bandits are 26-43 this season when committing at least one error in a game, as opposed to a 18-15 record in their 33 errorless
contests.
