Complete scoreboard
@Cedar Rapids 3, Wisconsin 2: Tyler Chatwood was lights out Tuesday night. Literally. The talented young Cedar Rapids Kernels pitcher showed off some electric stuff at times during his team’s 3-2 win over Wisconsin. The mid-90s fastball and the hammer curve were there, and they were being thrown for strikes.
Lansing 4 @South Bend 0: South Bend Silver Hawks’ manager Mark Haley had company when he was in the third-base coach’s box at Coveleski Stadium Tuesday night. The problem was, they hung around. South Bend stranded four runners at third, five runners in scoring position, and seven runners overall in a 4-0 loss to Lansing in minor-league baseball action.
West Michigan 8 @Dayton 4: With the way Kevyn Feiner is playing, maybe Dragons manager Todd Benzinger should ask him if he can pitch.
Fort Wayne 10 @Great Lakes 5: The Dow Diamond magic finally ran out on the Great Lakes Loons. At least for one night. The Loons' pitchers struggled and the offense cooled off after a hot start, as East Division-leading Fort Wayne pounded out 14 hits en route to a 10-5 win Tuesday -- snapping the Loons' five-game win streak and handing Great Lakes only its fifth home loss in its last 25 games at Dow Diamond.
Quad Cities 4 @Kane County 2: The timer attached to the icepack adorning Scott Deal's right shoulder counted down from 15 minutes, displaying for a moment the rarest kind of baseball math. Numbers are supposed to shoot up in this game, not the other way around, a reality Deal proved again Tuesday night.
Burlington 4 @Peoria 2: Bees version | Chiefs version
@Beloit 6, Clinton 4: Starter Liam Hendriks considered himself fortunate to escape a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the first inning so he wasn’t all that upset about settling for a no-decision when the bullpen didn’t hold his lead Tuesday night.
“As long as my team won, that’s the main thing,” Hendriks said after Ramon Santana’s pinch-two-run double in the inning produced a 6-4 victory over the Clinton LumberKings at Pohlman Field. “We’ve won four in a row now. We’re on a hot streak.”
