Midwest League Action: Games of August 12, 2009

Complete scoreboard

Wisconsin 10 @Cedar Rapids 5: At one point in the middle of this debacle, a fed-up fan screamed “Wake up, Kernels.” Or just reappear. The Cedar Rapids Kernels you’ve seen four of the last five games haven’t been the Kernels you’ve seen most of this Midwest League season.

@Dayton 5, West Michigan 4 (12 innings): A virtual masterpiece of a pitching performance was wasted by the Dragons on Wednesday, Aug. 12, but didn’t cost them the game when a Carlos Mendez grounder with the bases loaded in the 12th inning went through the legs of drawn-in shortstop Gustavo Nunez, scoring two runs.

Fort Wayne 1 @Great Lakes 0: TinCaps version | Loooooons version

@Kane County 4, Quad Cities 1: Cougars version | River Bandits version

@Peoria 11, Burlington 1: Ted Lilly became the fourth major-leaguer to rub shoulders with the Peoria Chiefs this season, and the lefty pitcher ended up getting a proverbial shot in the arm from the Midwest League team with a dominant rehab stint Wednesday at O’Brien Field.

Clinton 4 @Beloit 2: LumberKings version | Snappers version

Lansing 8 @South Bend 6 (10 innings): The South Bend Silver Hawks threw away a chance for a victory Wednesday night. Four errors paved the way to five unearned runs, helping Lansing rally for an 8-6 10-inning victory over South Bend in Midwest League baseball action.
