Midwest League Action: Games of July 9, 2009

West Michigan 11 @ Wisconsin 2: "(Gustavo Nunez) makes things difficult for a pitcher," said Timber Rattlers manager Jeff Isom, on the Whitecaps leadoff hitter that went three-for-four with a pair of RBI. "He got on in the first and all of a sudden they ended up with the first four hits in a row to start the game."

@Quad Cities 2, Lansing 1 (10 innings);
@Quad Cities 4, Lansing 3 (11 innings): Success in the seventh was too much to ask of the starting pitchers who took the mound with a lead in Thursday's doubleheader at Modern Woodmen Park.

Burlington 4 @Kane County 3: Chris Berroa roped an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to bring in one run, but Dusty Napoleon was thrown at home plate trying to tie it.

Fort Wayne 12 @Cedar Rapids 5: TinCaps version | Kernels version

Dayton 1 @Clinton 0: Cheyne Hann can get used to the scoreless streak he’s on. His Clinton LumberKings teammates would rather dump the nearly-scoreless streak they’ve been on of late.

South Bend 6 @Beloit 5: The Beloit Snappers have once again delved “down under” and for once, that’s not a reference to the Midwest League standings.

@Peoria 4, Great Lakes 2: After scoring two in the bottom of the first and then seeing Great Lakes cut the lead in half, David Macias drove in Junior Lake from first base with a two-out double to right with what turned out to be the winning run.
