ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rattlers beat the Chiefs 5-2. Wisconsin staged a two-out, four run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead. Nick Allen pitched five scoreless innings for the win. Chris Minaker collected four hits for the second night in a row and Adam Moore homered to lead the offense. The win was the third straight home victory for the Rattlers.
STANFORD SLUGGER: Minaker, the tenth round pick of the Mariners out of Stanford in the 2006 draft, has ten hits in his last ten at bats. He was 4-for-4 with a sacrifice fly against the Chiefs on Monday. Last night, Minaker had three singles and a double. He has hits in seven straight plate appearances.
MULTIPLE 4-HIT CLUB: Minaker became the second Rattler to collect four hits in a game more than once this season. Ron Garth has picked up four hits in one game three different times this season.
ALLEN WRENCH: Allen won his seventh game of the season. He allowed five hits, walked one, hit two batters, and struck out four. Allen is 2-0 and has not allowed a run over 7-1/3 innings against the Chiefs this season.
RALLY TIME: Johan Limonta stepped to the plate with two out and nobody on base in the bottom of the fourth and singled. Jeff Flaig’s double knocked in Limonta. Travis Scott followed with a triple. Eddy Hernandez singled and the Rattlers were up 4-0. After Minaker’s double moved Hernandez to third, a wild pitch allowed Hernandez to score.
DRIVE FOR FIVE: Brian Kappel pitched a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts in for his fifth save in five opportunities.
A SMALL VILLAGE: The Chiefs left twelve runners on base last night. Allen got out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning. The Chiefs left three runners on in the seventh as well.
FEEL THE BREEZE: Allen, Edgar Guaramato, Ruben Flores, and Kappel combined to strike out thirteen Peoria batters last night. In twelve games against the Chiefs this season, Rattler pitchers have struck out Chief batters 111 times.
HE LIKES IT HERE: Chief first baseman Ryan Norwood is 18-for-39 (.461) in nine games at Fox Cities Stadium this season.
OPPOSING STARTING PITCHER: Joel Santo was signed by the San Diego Padres as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2002. He was 4-11 with a 4.75ERA for the Fort Wayne Wizards in 2005. Before being traded to the Cubs organization this season, Santo was 6-6 with a 5.38ERA for the Wizards. He appeared twice as a reliever against the Rattlers at Fort Wayne in April and allowed three runs (two earned) over 2-2/3 innings. Since becoming a Chief, Santo is 1-3. He lost to the Burlington Bees in his last start on August 11 by allowing two runs on six hits over five innings.
