Mariner System Report (Games of 8/2)

Seattle (MAJ: 53-54; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat the Orioles 2-1. Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning and four Mariner pitchers made it stand. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) allowed one run on four hits with four walks over five innings for the win. Mark Lowe (WI ’05) continued his scoreless string for the Mariners with 2-1/3 innings out of the bullpen. George Sherrill got the second out of the bottom of the eighth. JJ Putz (WI ’00) got the final four outs of the game for another save.

Tacoma (AAA – 58-52; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 7-3 at Iowa. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) had a pair of hits and scored twice and Oswaldo Navarro (WI ’05) drove in a pair of runs for the Rainiers, who fell behind early in the game.

San Antonio (AA – 50-57; 23-16 second half 1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 3-1 at Corpus Christi. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning to give the Missions a 1-0 lead. But, the Hooks rallied for the win.

Inland Empire (High-A – 58-50, 19-19 second half; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Stockton 9-2. Jack Arroyo (WI ’05) homered and knocked in three to lead the 66er offense. Aaron Jensen (WI ’05) pitched seven strong innings and struck out seven for his third win of the season.

Everett (Short Season-A – 21-22; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett was off on Wednesday.


AZL M’s (Rookie – 16-18; 2-4 T-6th Arizona League): The Mariners lost to the Angels 4-3.
