Seattle (MAJ: 53-55; 4th AL West): The Mariners lost 5-2 to Oakland. Seattle got seven hits off Barry Zito over seven innings, but scored only one run against him. Jarrod Washburn took the loss for the M’s.
Tacoma (AAA – 60-52; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Iowa 4-1. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning. Cha Seung Baek (WI ’00) allowed one run on two hits over eight innings with a pair of walks and three strikeouts for his eleventh win of the year. Hunter Brown (WI ’02) homered for the Rainiers.
San Antonio (AA – 51-58; 24-17 second half 1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 3-2 at Corpus Christi. The Hooks scored a run in the eighth to tie the game and scored the winning run on a throwing error in the bottom of the ninth.
Inland Empire (High-A – 59-51, 20-20 second half; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire lost 4-3 at Modesto. The 66ers tied the game 3-3 with three runs in the top of the sixth, but the Nuts scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
Everett (Short Season-A – 22-23; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 2-0 at Tri-City. Oak Creek, Wisconsin native Anthony Butler allowed one run on no hits with three walks and nine strikeouts over five innings for the loss. Kevin Reynolds (WI ’06) had two of Everett’s six hits.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 17-19; 3-5 6th Arizona League): The Mariners beat the Brewers 13-1.
