Seattle (MAJ: 55-57; T-3rd AL West): The Mariners beat Tampa Bay 5-1 in ten innings. Richie Sexson hit a grand slam in the bottom of the tenth for the win. Julio Mateo (WI ’00) got the win for the second night in a row. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) pitched eight innings and allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts.
Tacoma (AAA – 63-53; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Omaha 5-2. TJ Bohn (WI ’03) had three hits and drove in a run for the Rainiers. Francisco Cruceta gave up two runs over six innings for his eleventh win of the season.
San Antonio (AA – 51-62; 24-21 second half T-1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 6-0 to Wichita. The Missions were shutout for the second game in a row and they had four hits. Ryan Feierabend (WI ’04) walked six, gave up seven hits, and allowed six runs (five earned) for the loss.
Inland Empire (High-A – 61-52, 22-21 second half; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat San Jose 6-5 in ten innings. The Giants led the 66ers 5-0 going into the bottom of the seventh. Inland Empire scored four in the bottom of the seventh. Josh Womack (WI ’05) homered in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. Reed Eastley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth for the win. Joe Woerman (WI ’06) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
Everett (Short Season-A – 24-25; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 9-0 to Salem-Keizer. The Volcanoes scored six runs in the first inning off Ricky Orta.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 18-20; 4-6 T-5th Arizona League): The Mariners game with the Athletics was not reported.
