Mariner System Report (Games of 8/9)

Seattle (MAJ: 56-57; T-3rd AL West): The Mariners beat the Devil Rays 2-0. Jarrod Washburn gave up three hits over 6-2/3 innings for the win. Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) worked a scoreless 1-1/3 innings and JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth and got his 25th save of the season. Adrian Beltre homered and drove in both runs as the M's swept the Rays.

Tacoma (AAA – 64-53; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Omaha 12-11. Oswaldo Navarro (WI ’05) snapped an 8-8 tie with an infield single in the top of the ninth. The Rainiers scored four times in the ninth and held on for the win. Navarro drove in four runs for the Rainiers. Eric O’Flaherty (WI ’05) pitched two scoreless innings and got the win in his Triple-A debut.

San Antonio (AA – 51-63; 24-22 second half T-1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 3-2 to Wichita. The Missions tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the eighth on RBIs by Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) and Mike Wilson (WI ’05). But, the Wranglers scored a run in the top of the ninth to beat San Antonio. The loss was the sixth straight for San Antonio.

Inland Empire (High-A – 62-52, 23-21 second half; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat San Jose 4-3 in eleven innings. Juan Doñe (WI ’02) got the win with 1-1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Chris Colton (WI ’05) singled in the winning run in the eleventh. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) had three hits, drove in two runs, and scored the game winner.

Everett (Short Season-A – 24-26; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 8-2 to Salem-Keizer. Oak Creek, Wisconsin native Anthony Butler pitched five shutout innings, allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out seven for a no decision.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 19-20; 5-6 T-5th Arizona League): The Mariners beat the Angels 4-3 with three runs in the bottom of the ninth.
