Starting with RattlersReport...Gavin Dickey and the Rattlers honor Jackie Robinson today on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
"Jackie Robinson was the first baseball player that I really took a liking to," Dickey said. "He was actually born 30 minutes away from where I live, so I did a lot of research on him as a little kid."

The 23-year-old will get yet another chance to honor his hero today when the Rattlers celebrate Jackie Robinson Day at Fox Cities Stadium.
Held in conjunction with Wisconsin's scheduled Midwest League matchup against Fort Wayne at 1:05 p.m., the celebration will feature a pregame ceremony and commemorative program.

Players will also be wearing a special decal on their helmets in recognition of Robinson, who 60 years ago this month became the first African-American to play in the major leagues.

"I can imagine, him being from the south and growing up in the south, what he went through," said Rattlers hitting coach Dana Williams, who played in eight big league games with Boston in 1989. "I appreciate him. Not that I know what he went through, but it paved the way ffor a lot of great big league players."
Baseball Beat at jsonline.com opens with a headline about a former Appleton Fox: A-Rod will cash in again. Then, there is a little on the latest injury to Ben Sheets.

The Man Behind the Mask says the Cougars are Ready to Break Out.
After the Burlington series, the road trip continued to Lansing, Mich., for a four-game series against the Lugnuts. The weather was a little chilly for the first couple of games, but warmed up for the last two. We suffered four tough losses but were very competitive in all of those games.
During the series against Lansing, we got a boost from two newcomers who were called up to Kane County, pitcher Craig Italiano and Larry Cobb, a little spark plug who can play in the infield or outfield.

Light reading for you today. Sorry.
