SEATTLE (MAJ: 6-9; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat the Rangers 5-4. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI ground out in the top of the seventh. Brandon Morrow picked up the win with 3-1/3 innings of scoreless relief. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.
TACOMA (AAA: 7-12; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 8-6 at Salt Lake. Bryan LaHair (WI ’04) went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI for the Rainiers. But, Renee Cortez (WI ’03) allowed four runs on two hits and two walks without retiring a batter in the sixth to get a blown save and a loss.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 7-11; T-3rd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 5-2 to Jacksonville in ten innings. Luis Valbuena (WI ’06) hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Robert Rohrbaugh (WI ’05) allowed two runs over 5-1/3 innings for a no decision. The Suns scored three times in the tenth for the win.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 6-12; T-4th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Lake Elsinore 10-1. Paul Fagan (WI ’06) allowed one run on seven hits over 5-2/3 innings for the win. Johan Limonta (WI ’06) was 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBI for High Desert.
