The '82 Brewers bounced back from their 11-2 loss to the White Sox on April 27 with a 2-1 victory on April 28. Mike Caldwell and Rollie Fingers teamed up to beat former Appleton Fox Britt Burns. Burns tossed a complete game and allowed just four hits, but it wasn't enough.
The Crew took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Ben Oglivie hit his fifth homer of the season with one out.
The White Sox evened the game with a run in the top of the fifth off Caldwell. Aurelio Rodriguez walked with two out. Bill Almon tripled and just like that the game was 1-1.
The team that would become Harvey's Wallbangers, played a little small ball to score the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh. Gorman Thomas walked. Don Money sacrificed him to second. Mark Brouhard flew out, but Jim Gantner came through with the two-out hit to drive in Thomas.
Fingers, who replaced Caldwell with one out in the top of the seventh, retired eight of the last nine hitters he faced. Only Harold Baines reached and that was on a one out single in the ninth.
