SEATTLE (MAJ: 6-9; 4th AL West): The Mariners were rained out in Texas. Yep, another rainout for the M's.
TACOMA (AAA: 8-12; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Salt Lake 12-11. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) had four hits, including two home runs, and drove in five runs to lead the way for the offense.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 7-12; 4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 5-3 to Jacksonville in thirteen innings. Rene Rivera (WI ’03) homered in the seventh to give West Tennessee a 2-1 lead, but the Suns tied the game in the top of the eighth. Jacksonville scored in the top of the tenth. Marshall Hubbard’s (WI ’05) two-out RBI double scored Chris Minaker (WI ’06) with the tying run. The Suns scored twice in the thirteenth off Juan Sandoval (WI ’03) for the winning runs.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 6-13; 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 2-1 at Rancho Cucamonga. The Quakes scored both their runs on solo homers. Jon Lockwood (WI ’05) allowed the first and Jose Escalona allowed an eighth inning long ball. High Desert scored a run in the top of the ninth on a Ron Garth (WI ’06) infield single.
