The '82 Brewers won their fourth straight with a 4-1 victory at Arlington Stadium against the Texas Rangers. This April 24, 1982 game pushed the Brewers back over the .500 mark and it was Pete Vuckovich leading the way.
The Brewer starter was given a 2-0 lead on a two run homer by Roy Howell in the second inning. That was the score until the top of the ninth.
Vuke pitched an atypical start for him. He allowed only three hits and walked just three in a complete game victory. He gave up one hit in the first and one hit in the sixth in keeping the Rangers off the scoreboard.
Milwaukee tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Ted Simmons singled with one out and scored from first on a Gorman Thomas double. Later in the inning, Robin Yount had a sacrifice fly to drive in Gorman for a 4-0 lead.
Vuke came out for the bottom of the ninth and walked Lee Mazzilli to start the inning. Mazzilli stole second and scored on a two-out RBI single by Pat Putnam. Vuke got the final out and the Crew picked up the win.
