Mariner System Report (Games of 4/26)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 8-9; 3rd AL West): The Mariners won 4-2 in Oakland. Seattle rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win their third straight. JJ Putz (WI ’00) got the final five outs for his second save.

TACOMA (AAA: 8-13; T-3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 9-3 at Las Vegas. Adam Jones (WI ’04) drove in one of the three Tacoma runs. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) went hitless in three at bats and had his seventeen game hitting streak end.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 8-13; T-4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 4-1 at Chattanooga. Juan Doñe pitched seven innings and allowed two runs, but took the loss. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) drove in the only West Tennessee run.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 7-14; 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Rancho Cucamonga 3-2 in sixteen innings. Adam Moore (WI ’06) and Michael Saunders (WI ’06) each drove in runs in the game, but the winning run scored on an error after a Moore double in the sixteenth. Marwin Vega (WI ’06) was the starting pitcher and allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts over seven innings. Brian Kappel (WI ’06) got the win for the Mavs by tossing a pair of scoreless innings. Pay no attention to the headline which has the Mavs losing in the 16th. Sure hope they fix it.
