Rich Severson, Appleton Foxes, 1967
Rich Severson was signed by the White Sox in 1963 as an non-drafted free agent out of high school.
I can't find any minor league stats on Severson, a middle infielder. But, he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the minor league portion of the expansion draft.
The Royals were the team with whom Severson made it to the big leagues. He played 77 games in the 1970 season in the second season of Royals baseball. His first major league game was on April 11 and he entered as a pinch hitter and flew out in the fifth inning. He got his first major league hit later in the game with a single in the eighth.
Severson hit .250 in those 77 games for the Royals. He played just 16 games in the 1971 season and retired at the end of the year.
