The '97 M's ended their series in Toronto with a 2-1 victory on April 27. Randy Johnson outpitched Robert Person and the offense gave him just enough support.
Seattle scored a run off Person in the first inning. Actually, it was Alex Rodriguez scoring a run off Person. The former Appleton Fox hit a one-out homer for a 1-0 lead.
Toronto got to Johnson in the bottom of the first. Ed Sprague grounded into a run scoring fielder's choice.
Seattle got the final run of the game in the top of the third. Joey Cora tripled with two outs and A-Rod knocked him in with a single.
Johnson shut the door on the Jays through eight innings. He struck out nine and allowed six hits. Norm Charlton pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventh save of the season.
