Mariners: April 30, 1997

The '97 M's ended their series at Yankee Stadium with a 3-2 loss. David Wells struck out nine over 7-2/3 innings for the win. Dennis Martinez allowed two runs (one earned) over seven innings and got the loss.

Tim Raines homered off Martinez in the bottom of the first. Seattle ties the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Rich Amaral.

Bernie Williams scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth, the second error of the inning by Seattle. The Yanks added a run in the eighth on a home run by Tino Martinez.

Jay Buhner homered off Mariano Rivera in the top of the ninth, but that was it for the scoring.

The '97 Mariners are off on May 1. They return to action on May 2 back at the Kingdome with to start a series with the Brewers.
