SEATTLE (MAJ: 22-41 4th American League West): The Mariners lost 2-1 at Boston. Seattle scored a run in the second inning, but Erik Bedard could not hold off the Red Sox. JD Drew drove in a pair of runs, including a solo homer in the sixth inning off Sean Green to give Boston the win.
TACOMA (AAA: 31-31, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Fresno 10-7. Jeff Clement (’05) homered and drove in three runs and Caesar Jimenez (’03) pitched 2-1/3 scoreless innings in the win. The win was the third straight for Tacoma.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 38-26, T-1st Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx won 2-0 at Huntsville. Justin Thomas (’06) pitched a complete game, five-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. Mike Wilson (’05) homered and Michael Saunders (’06) drove in the other run. West Tennessee is now tied with Huntsville for the North Division lead in the Southern League.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 27-36, 3rd California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 13-9 in ten innings to Lake Elsinore. Greg Halman (’07) and Carlos Peguero (’07) both homered and knocked in three runs for High Desert. The Mavericks scored once in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 7-7. The Storm scored six times in the top of the tenth.
