Tonight's Rattler Starting Pitcher (6/12)

LH EDWARD PAREDES: Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic by Seattle in May, 2005.

RATINGS: Baseball America ranks Paredes as the #22 prospect in the Seattle Mariner system.

LAST WIN: Paredes took a no-hitter into the bottom of the eighth inning at Cedar Rapids on May 21. He allowed a two-out single to Anel De Los Santos, but finished the eighth without allowing another hit. The Rattlers beat the Kernels 1-0. Paredes struck out four and walked two for the win.

AWARD WINNER: Paredes was named the Midwest League pitcher of the week on May 26 for his performance on May 21.

LAST START: Paredes allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits against Quad Cities on June 6 in Grand Chute. He walked three, struck out six, and left the game with the Timber Rattlers leading 4-2. The River Bandits rallied to take a lead, but the Rattler scored in the ninth to tie the game 5-5 and once in the eleventh for a 6-5 win.

VS. BURLINGTON: Paredes is making his first appearance against the Bees tonight. This is also his first appearance against an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
