LH EDWARD PAREDES: Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic by Seattle in May, 2005.

RATINGS: Baseball America ranks Paredes as the #22 prospect in the Seattle Mariner system.

LAST WIN: Paredes took a no-hitter into the bottom of the eighth inning at Cedar Rapids on May 21. He allowed a two-out single to Anel De Los Santos, but finished the eighth without allowing another hit. The Rattlers beat the Kernels 1-0. Paredes struck out four and walked two for the win.

AWARD WINNER: Paredes was named the Midwest League pitcher of the week on May 26 for his performance on May 21.

LAST START: Paredes lost his second consecutive start against the Peoria Chiefs on June 1. He allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits over 4-2/3 innings with a pair of walks and five strikeouts.

VS. QUAD CITIES: Paredes is making his first appearance against the River Bandits. This is also his first appearance against an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals since facing their DSL affiliate four times in 2006. Paredes went 1-0 with three saves. He made one start against the DSL Cardinals and won on July 31. He allowed four runs (two earned) over five innings with five strikeouts.
